Tips for use

About ‘ABSTRACT BEACH’ by db Waterman

An abstract beach landscape featuring weathered beach pilings, rich in small details, texture, and relief. The various layers are built up by hand, creating a distinctive *wabi-sabi* aesthetic through a weathered concrete look, rough texture, and irregular surfaces. It is precisely these imperfections, subtle color variations, and visible handmade details that give this original artwork its charm.

The combination of soft sage green and blue-green tones, warm ochre-yellow accents, and contrasting brown and black hues creates a cohesive yet playful composition—a contemporary abstract piece that celebrates the beauty of imperfection.

Tabular elements are incorporated into the lower section of the artwork to further enhance its vintage aesthetic; these details, too, have been applied by hand.

Technique: layers of plaster on canvas, painted with acrylics,
image transfer of numbers, finished with pastel chalk and
pencil.

Thirteen years ago, I resumed my work as an artist. I started out without a budget for expensive paint or large canvases. Instead, I used old leftover paint, worn-out newspapers and magazines. This formed the basis of my first collages.
