Johann Friedrich Ludwig Heinrich 'August' Riedel (Bayreuth, 25 December 1799 - Rome, 6 August 1883) was a German painter. He worked in Italy for much of his life. The painter received his training at the Art Academy in Munich and later in Dresden. Riedel became known above all for his psychologically sensitive portraits of women with great attention to colour and light.
