n this iconic image, you see the mysterious wreck of the ship Panagiotis, rusty and weathered, lying on the pearly white sands of Navagio Beach - better known as Shipwreck Beach. The imposing limestone cliff rises perpendicularly, a natural wall embracing the scene in silence. The colour of the water? Unreal turquoise, almost as if digitally coloured in - but this is pure nature.
What makes the image special is the contrast between impermanence and eternity. The ship, once a smuggling vessel, now lies here as a silent witness to stories we will never fully know. The cliff behind it seems untouched, as if the ship is just a temporary visitor in a landscape that is millions of years old.
I took this photo during a boat trip around the island, at a time when the sun was illuminating the wreckage golden. It gave me the feeling of time travel - as if you were suddenly in the middle of a movie scene. A ruin from another era, perfectly captured in a modern shot.
The work exudes adventure and mystery, while being a serene addition to any interior. Think of a study, a travel nook or a living room where you occasionally want to wander off into another world.
