"Abstract Alchemy" is a collection of 30 series and 112 works by Philippe Hugonnard. It explores the union of photography and painting, combining them with the power of precious materials. Each image becomes a visual experience in which sparkling gold, vibrant copper, luminous silver, liquid mercury, coloured pigments and glittering sparkles meet and intertwine.
The collection reveals a rich and varied universe, where fluid forms evoke liquid waves and elegant marbling, while more intense compositions recall powerful impacts, cosmic spurts and flashes of light in motion. Some works exude a dramatic intensity thanks to the depth of blacks and metallic contrasts, while others favour the poetic softness of pastel backgrounds, rosy hues and luminous transparencies.
