In this photo: "Abstract reflection: Zeeland Knotweed in bloom" you see a still life of a tiny flower of the Zeeland Knotweed. This small fragile cream-white with olive-green flower almost seems to float above the reflective ground.
In this reflective background, you see the Zeeland Knot from a different point of view. Because there is a relief in this ground, the reflection is not a literal reflection, but an abstract representation of the flower. It almost looks like the Zeeland Knot has been painted into the ground surface in an abstract way.
If you zoom in on the work, you can see the beautiful details. On the one hand, this work is partly in line with classical still lifes but on the other hand, it gives a contemporary translation of them, with abstraction.
