About ‘Abstraction in water’ by Greetje van Son

If you want to use your own imagination on this image, do NOT read the following explanation!
It was a little later in the morning. The night had been cold. The intention was to photograph modern architecture in Utrecht. I knew that the building was next to a small pond and so a reflection was among the possibilities.
To my surprise, I did indeed see a reflection, but the hues were interrupted by beautiful shapes of the thin layer of ice still present. So what you see is the reflection of the blue sky combined with the yellow of the building present. A beautiful contrast complemented by the jagged shapes of the ice.
