About ‘Ahrweiler’ by Antwan Janssen

The walled town of Ahrweiler is the medieval part of the larger municipality of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. The historic core is actually a large open-air museum.
Ahrweiler was granted city rights in 1248. The city walls, erected not so much later, are still largely intact. So are the four medieval town gates: the Ober-, Walporzheimer- or Gisemer Tor, the Nieder- or Rheintor, the Adenbach- or Winzertor and the Ahrtor.

Ahrweiler is located in the north of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and in the popular Eifel holiday region. This is the eastern part of the medium-high plateau Eifel-Ardennes. Ahrweiler lies specifically in the area known as the Ahrgebirge. Incidentally, Bad Neurenahr-Ahrweiler is relatively low: at around 100 metres above sea level. Around the town you will see higher altitudes, where grapes are grown to make wine because of the favourable climate for this purpose. In Ahrweiler, you will find several good places to drink wine. The village is therefore especially popular among lovers of this popular drink. The wines from the area around the Ahr are highly regarded. The area is also called the 'Red wine paradise of Germany'. It is especially the Pinot Noir that does well on the steep hills around Ahrweiler. The wines from this small wine region have won many a prize.

As you can see on this site my preference goes to landscapes, wildlife but also to the local population, mostly abroad but certainly also in our beautiful Netherlands. In recent years, several of my photos have won awards in both national and international photo competitions.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
