This Islamic geometric pattern belongs to the fourfold family and was originally found in Alhambra-Spain.
It is beautifully crafted and has a lot of meaning. During the Global Centre of Islamic Art's '30 patterns in 30 days challenge', I learnt how to make this pattern.
While making the work, I made all kinds of discoveries including the blueprint of life and creation. Love, time, people... even the mosque came to mind. The building blocks of faith and the sequence of events over time. But also how intimately everything is intertwined and connected. Just like the seas and rivers around the world.
