The Alpe di Siusi is Europe's largest Alm (mountain pasture) and is located in the Dolomites in the Italian Alps. Scattered around this alm are beautiful huts and it is surrounded by majestic mountains. This panoramic photo shows the Sassolungo (left, 3181 m) and the Sasso Piatto (right, 2969 m) just after sunset. At high elevation, an optical effect called 'Alpenglow' appears after sunset, making the mountains almost seem to give light themselves.
