About ‘Amsterdam Flower Market’ by Nop Briex

The Flower Market on the Singel in Amsterdam is the only floating flower market in the world. The market stretches across the water between Koningsplein and Muntplein. Although the market is nowadays best known as a busy tourist attraction, it has a rich history and is a unique sight in Amsterdam’s canal district.

In the distance, the Munttoren is clearly visible thanks to its openwork onion-shaped tower. The Munttoren in Amsterdam is a well-known historic tower on Muntplein. The tower is approximately 35 to 41 metres high and dates from the fifteenth century. It used to form part of a large city gate.
