Amsterdam's Saint Nicholas Basilica seen from Central Station.
Construction of the basilica began in 1884 and was completed in 1887. The architect, Adrianus Bleijs, designed the church in neo-Renaissance style, with some neo-Gothic elements. The basilica is named after St Nicholas, who is considered the patron saint of sailors and merchants, among others.
