About the artwork

A digital vector illustration of a house sparrow sitting on a blossom branch. The illustration is made in vectors and has a graphic character because only solid colour areas have been used and a limited colour palette. The little bird looks at you with one eye. You see the bird on its back, giving you a good view of its beautiful feathers.
The background is blue with wavy shapes that progress from almost light at the top of the image to somewhat darker at the bottom of the image. The blossom is purple with simple shapes. Most of the flowers are simple a circle with a lighter spot. Some green leaves are drawn on the branches.
The image is derived from an earlier pencil drawing which in turn was derived from a photograph I once took of a sparrow in my garden.
Sparrows have been trusted companions of humans for centuries. They like to nest near houses and gardens, where they bring vibrancy and a touch of nature to our daily lives. Although they seem small and sometimes inconspicuous, they are social, clever birds that live in groups and are known for their cheerful chirping. The female sparrow is slightly less conspicuously coloured than the male, but it is these subdued hues that give it a natural elegance.

This illustration is an ode to this often overlooked bird and reminds us how precious the little things in life can be. Perfect as a wall decoration for anyone who loves birds, peace and nature.
