Anthracite Gold Abstract Painting: Swirls with a Golden Centre by Surreal Media

Spirals wind their way through this long, narrow piece. On the left are two smaller swirls in anthracite and silver-grey; in the centre, a single large swirl moves to the right like a dark current, with a light core in which grey and white twist around one another. The lines are fine and parallel, almost like tree rings or wood grain, lending the whole piece an organic quality.

Gold glitters amongst these dark forms. Flecks and veins resembling gold leaf lie along the edges of the current, as if filling the gaps. Beneath them, a deep wine red shimmers, whilst creamy white and light grey clouds swirl all around. On the right, within the dark current, lies the detail around which everything revolves: a single small ring with a golden rim. A knot that radiates. I thought of connection. Of separate points linked together by long lines, like knots in wood, like moments in a life that, in hindsight, turn out to form a single story. The work began with that feeling, purely abstract, without imposing a narrative.

The atmosphere is cool and understated, with a warm sheen. Grey and white convey tranquillity, whilst gold and red provide a glow. The message: even in what seems dark and swirling, there is a place that catches the light. It is a digital artwork, with the appearance of carved relief and broad, layered brushstrokes with golden accents.

The panoramic image is well suited to a long wall: above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard. It fits into an interior featuring dark wood, natural stone or black accents, and appeals to people who love wood, craftsmanship or the beauty of imperfection.
