This is a self-portrait I made for my photo book: Aperture of Acceptance. An aperture of acceptance. This photobook is a personal exploration of self-image and recovery after mastectomy. Through staged self-portraits, I express the emotional impact of illness, change and the choice not to have reconstruction done. I use light, texture and form to depict themes of vulnerability, strength and dignity. Aperture of Acceptance is about looking at your body as it is - and embracing what remains.
