On the outskirts of the capital Riyadh lies the ancient city of Al-Diriyah. Diriyah is the cradle of present-day Saudi Arabia and was once its capital.
Al-Diriyah has been completely renovated and it is like an open-air museum. The mud buildings all look like new. There are museums, there is entertainment and you can eat or drink in many places. It is a nice place to walk through for hours and chat with the other visitors. These are mostly Saudi who are tourists in their own country. Or Saudi who live abroad and are visiting their own country and visiting Al-Diriyah. It is definitely worth spending a day here. Saudi Arabia is busy getting the country ready for millions of tourists.
