San Carlos de Bariloche, in Argentine Patagonia, is home to a unique natural treasure: the arrayanes, the region's emblematic trees. These trees, recognisable by their smooth cinnamon-coloured bark and dense foliage, offer a natural spectacle of rare beauty. Their twisted trunks and roots snaking through the ground create an enchanting landscape, particularly visible in the famous Los Arrayanes National Park. This forest, located on the Quetrihué peninsula, is a favourite spot for hikers and nature lovers.
Arrayanes, which can be several hundred years old, also play an essential role in the local ecosystem. Their wood and leaves are home to numerous plant and animal species, contributing to the biodiversity of the region. Their blossoms produce small, fragrant white flowers, followed by edible berries that are much appreciated by birds.
Exploring these landscapes, bathed in golden light at sunset, is an unforgettable experience. This place is not only a natural wonder, but also a source of inspiration for photographers, artists and travellers in search of serenity.
