About ‘Artemisia’ by Marja van den Hurk

Around 1638, Italian painter Guido Reni (1575 - 1642) produced this portrait of (probably) Artemisia (350 BC).
Artemisia was a Carian princess, the sister and wife (!) of Mausolus.

The story goes that the dish, dissolved in liquid, contained ashes of Artemisia's deceased and by her dearly beloved Mausolus.
