Lake Braies is located in the Puster Valley in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The marvellous landscape offers wonderful photo opportunities all day long. At sunrise - as in this photo - particularly charming and romantic shots can be taken. The mountain peak is already slightly illuminated by the sun and is reflected in the small ice-free surface of Lake Braies.
Lake Braies is located a few kilometres south of Alta Pusteria between Brunico and Dobbiaco in the Braies Dolomites. The marvellous landscape offers wonderful photo opportunities all day long.
It is the largest and deepest natural lake in the Dolomites and lies at an altitude of 1,496 metres above sea level. The lake covers an area of approx. 31 hectares. The lake has an average depth of 17 metres and a maximum depth of 36 metres. The lake is dominated by the imposing massif of the Seekofel (2,810 m) and is the starting point of the Dolomites High Trail No. 1. Lake Braies was formed a long time ago by a mudslide.
