The Arch of Titus is a Roman honorary arch at the Forum Romanum in Rome. The Arch of Titus is built on the highest point of Via Sacra, on the hill Velia. This is the entrance to the Forum Romanum from the valley of the Colosseum. The single arch was probably built in 81 AD by Emperor Domitian, in honour of his deified brother and predecessor Titus. The arch is the oldest standing honorary arch in Rome. The reliefs in the arch recall the defeat of the Jewish uprising in Palestine and the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus and his father Vespasianus in 70 AD.
