This photograph was taken on a late October day in the north of Germany. I was walking through a park and saw this vinegar tree in full autumn dress. Its cobs shone in a deep red colour, the leaves in various shades of red, often intertwining and fascinating to look at. Two days later, I passed that spot in the park again. The frost that had set in overnight had loosened the fiery foliage from the stems and put an end to the sight of such a perfect blaze of colour.
