The Our Dear Lady (Onze Lieve Vrouweplein (Maastricht: Slevrouweplein)) is a square in the center of Maastricht. The square is located in the oldest part of the city, just outside the late Roman castellum. The square gets its name from the Basilica of Our Lady, which dominates the square with its massive westwork. Our Lady's Square is best known for the Chapel of the Star of the Sea and its catering terraces.
Onze Lieve Vrouweplein is the smallest of the three main squares in the historic part of Maastricht. The square is located in the southern part of the center district Binnenstad, where it forms the border with the Jeker Quarter. The square itself belongs entirely to the Inner City, but the southern street wall (house numbers 15 to 20) is considered part of the Jeker Quarter. Streets opening onto the northern part of the square are: Bredestraat, Wolfstraat, Havenstraat and Plankstraat; in the southern part are: Cortenstraat, Koestraat, Hondertmarck, Sint Bernardusstraat, Graanmarkt and Stokstraat.
