The Avro Vulcan was a subsonic speed heavy strategic bomber made by British aircraft manufacturer A.V. Roe and Company. The aircraft with characteristic delta wings first flew on Aug. 30, 1952, and it was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1956 to 1984 as part of the nuclear deterrent force.
