The bald eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), sometimes called European bald eagle or white-tailed sea eagle, is a bird of prey in the hawk family (Accipitridae). The scientific name of the species was published as Falco albicilla in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. It is the largest bird of prey in Northern Europe.
