The Basilica of Agios Stefanos is an impressive early Christian church ruin on the Greek island of Kos. It is located right by the sea near the village of Kefalos and dates back to the 5th-6th century A.D. The basilica consists of two churches built next to each other and is surrounded by a picturesque landscape with a view of the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea and the small island of Kastri in the background.
The ruins of the basilica still feature ornate mosaic floors and the remains of columns and apses, giving an idea of the former splendour of the complex. This historic site offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty and is a fascinating place for visitors interested in antiquity and the history of Christianity. Its location on the beach gives the site a special atmosphere, especially in the light of the sunset.
