A common sight across the Dutch beaches is the so called "beach pole". It's purpose is to measure the distance to the sea and the underlying dunes. They are dating back to the year 1840 and are still used today as an important measurement tool in monitoring the development of the Dutch coast. Further more the poles help to locate one position in case of an emergency. Here only the top of the beach pole is still visible the bottom black part is already completely covered by the moving sand.
Photography started as a hobby and has now grown into my work. I see my pictures as an illustration of the wonderful places and cultures that are around us. I can therefore endlessly marvel at the things that I see and encounter. I try to convey that sense of wonder.. Read more…
