Photo of a beach head on a Dutch beach. Visible is the row of wooden piles forming part of the beach head - also known as a breakwater.
The wind has left a ridge pattern in the sand that is untouched. The low position of the sun causes the wooden posts to cast a long shadow and the ridge pattern also has a slight shadow. This effect almost makes the beach appear to be under a small layer of water.
The focal point is in the foreground of the photo. With a small depth of field, the row of poles including shadows and ridges in the sand becomes less sharp.
The photo shows enough detail but still exudes a certain calmness. The row of poles is not exactly straight, making it a dynamic whole. This effect is underlined by the ridges in the sand.
