This is my new favourite photo. Everything is right about this photo. The beautiful light, the colour palette, the bokeh, the sharpness and detail on the critter and the interplay of lines with the background. Also, it captures exactly the feeling I had this morning.
To be able to photograph stationary/quiet damselflies for once, I decided not to drive straight to work in the early morning but to make a stop at the Hatertse fens first. I had seen in the morning that the light was beautiful and decided to take my camera and eagen the gamble. Yes indeed, plenty of common Spreadwings to be found this morning. The nice thing about Spreadwings is that they are the only damselflies that leave their wings nicely unfolded when resting. This makes for great photos.
Passion for photography, where does something like that come from? The beauty is that every photographer will have their own answer. For me it flows out of being able to freeze a moment, step out of the day-to-day rush, and take my time for what I am.. Read more…
