The Bode Museum in Berlin-Mitte is located on Museum Island in the middle of the Spree River and is thus a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The building was commissioned by Emperor Wilhelm II from 1898 to 1904 and built by Ernst von Ihne in the neo-baroque style as the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum. Today, the Bode Museum is home to the Sculpture Collection and the Museum of Byzantine Art as well as the Coin Cabinet.
