Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Berlin - Pariser Platz and Brandenburg Gate at night’ by Thomas Bugdoll

Pariser Platz on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate was part of the border between East and West Berlin until reunification. The Brandenburg Gate, a former city gate and Berlin landmark, was located directly behind the border line in the Soviet sector of the city during the period of German division. Pariser Platz was part of the border strip and inaccessible to the public.

The Brandenburg Gate is a must-see for every visitor to Berlin. Hardly any other sight is in as many tourist selfies as the large sandstone gate in the heart of the city.
Berlin owes the Brandenburg Gate to King Frederick William II, who commissioned the large sandstone gate to provide a dignified end to the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden. The gate is one of the largest and most beautiful buildings of classicism. It was built between 1788 and 1791 according to designs by Carl Gotthard Langhans the Elder, who was strongly inspired by the Propylaea on the Acropolis in Athens. Two years after the Brandenburg Gate was completed, the quadriga, a chariot pulled by four horses, was placed on the roof of the gate.
