The Simson Schwalbe is a moped of the GDR, which was manufactured by Simson in Suhl. The Schwalbe was the first model of the then new bird series of Simson in 1964. In total, there were three series with a total of nine models of the Schwalbe. In 1986, it was replaced by the newly designed SR 50 small scooter. With more than 1 million built, it was extremely widespread in the GDR and is still part of the street scene today.
