About ‘Bibi Kohonim Mosque Samarkand’ by Yvonne Smits
The Bibi-Khanum Mosque is a famous historic Friday mosque in Samarkand. Its name comes from the wife of the 14th century ruler, Timoer Lenk. Its outer walls are 167 meters long and 109 meters wide. The dome of the main building reaches a height of 40 meters and the entrance road is 35 meters high.
