Gothic cathedrals were the pride of the city. Many people from different classes helped to earn their place in heaven. Gothic cathedrals not only radiated the richness of the city, but it also allowed the faithful to see and feel what the sky should look like. Thanks to new construction techniques such as the cross rib vault, one could build higher and provide more window space in the high walls. This church in the old hanseatic city of Kampen shows the impressive character and dominance of these imposing buildings.
