With my newly acquired telephoto lens, this was the first attempt to photograph a flying bird.
The heron was sitting on the ditch side and I tried to get as close as possible.
The bird caught on to me and flew away but the speed of a heron is not that high so I got it into the viewfinder and the trick was to keep the image in focus which worked reasonably well.
Looking completely relaxed, it flew past me with its characteristic way of flying, with its legs far back, quite graceful to see.
