One of Myanmar's highlights are the Pindaya Caves. The name Pindaya comes from the word Pinguya, which in Burmese means "captured by a spider". Legend has it that a spider lived in the cave and held the local princess captive. This spider lived in the Shwe U Min cave, better known as the Pindaya caves. Nowadays there are thousands of Buddha statues in the Pindaya caves. Some of the statues date from the 18th century. Today there are about 6000 Buddha statues in the cave, many of which have been donated by pilgrims on pilgrimage. The caves are really beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
