The Boeing B-29 Superfortress is a US bomber used in World War II to fight Japan from bases in China and the Mariana Islands (on Guam and two islands of the Northern Mariana Islands, Saipan and Tinian). For example, a B-29 bomber was used to drop the first atomic bomb over Hiroshima on 6 August 1945; this bomber was called the "Enola Gay". The B-29 in this photo is one of the two still flying and this photo was taken during the airshow at Huntington Beach on 5 October 2025.
