Bonsai Serenity

by Christian Ovís

‘Bonsai Serenity’ depicts a bonsai tree in a low, light-coloured bowl next to a vase with a black-and-white chequered pattern. The bonsai has a twisted, dark trunk and two broad, compact layers of green branches. The chequered vase contains a slender plant with narrow leaves. Both objects rest on a light-coloured shelf. Beneath them, a large black semicircle provides a graphic accent.

The composition combines natural forms with clear geometry. The whimsical bonsai trunk contrasts with the straight shelf and the regular pattern of the vase. Soft diagonal light traces broad swathes across the cream-coloured background. The dark tree crown and semicircle counterbalance the light surroundings. The slender plant on the right keeps the two sides in balance. Small shadows lend a sense of depth to the bowls and the plank without disrupting the tranquil atmosphere.

This bonsai still life wall decoration suits a Japandi, Scandinavian or minimalist interior. Black, white, cream and green combine with wood and natural tones. The piece would suit a living room, hallway or quiet workspace. A plain wall complements the clean lines. From a distance, the bonsai and the semicircle stand out. Up close, the twisted trunk, small leaves and squares on the vase become visible.
