Botanical still life with burgundy-red leaves

by Valleifoto | Rick van de Kraats

The rich colours of autumn form the starting point for this botanical still life, in which natural forms and classical painting come together. Refined branches with large, burgundy-red leaves grow from a sturdy, light-coloured earthenware vase. Their graceful lines create a sense of movement and a playful contrast with the rounded shapes of the vase and the two ripe pears in the foreground.

The warm light falls softly over the fruit and the pottery, beautifully highlighting the different materials and textures. A light linen cloth lies loosely over the stone base, lending the composition a relaxed, almost tangible quality. The nuanced background enhances the depth and ensures that the distinctive leaves take centre stage.

The visual language draws on traditional European still lifes, but the tranquil composition and natural colour scheme lend the piece a contemporary character. The result is wall art that feels both decorative and timeless.

This still life featuring autumn leaves is particularly well-suited as an eye-catcher above a sideboard, dining table or sofa. It blends harmoniously into an interior featuring wood, natural stone, soft fabrics and warm colours. The piece also adds a pleasant contrast within a modern interior characterised by clean lines.

An atmospheric choice for those who love botanical art, classic still lifes and the warm appeal of natural materials.
