Work 1 of 3 from the series 'Bottled Up Amber-Aqua' Glass Still Life. A mouth-blown decanter with square base and convex head catches an oblique trajectory of daylight. At the top, the glass drains cool blue-green; at the bottom, it glows like honey. In the shadow on the tabletop, you see those two colours reflected as a soft strip-just like a mini indoor sunset. If you look closer, you'll notice little lines, bubbles and waves in the glass; exactly those imperfections that make handwork so pleasing.
This image was created in the late afternoon, window ajar. No studio, no trickery-just a quiet room and the sun cooperating for a moment. I deliberately left a lot of "air" around the decanter so that the work breathes and visually enlarges spaces. The atmosphere is calm and warm at the same time; ideal for above a sideboard, in the dining room or in a bright kitchen with wood and linen.
It is a still life that doesn't scream, but continues to draw you in. As if every time you see something new in that glass: a rim of amber, a speck of blue, a ripple of light that shifts with the day.
