A thoroughly Breda view, from the city's oldest street: Cingelstraat. As in other places in the city centre, characteristic manhole covers adorn the streets. For this picture, the photographer literally went into the gutter.
It was waiting for the moment where everything came together beautifully. The sun poking through the treetops and the passing of a cyclist, who moreover was riding in the exact spot. I chose a low vantage point to enhance the interplay of lines.
It turned into a tight image with dynamics of the cyclist still moving, on his way to the Castle Square.
A photograph that fits perfectly into my Breda black-and-white series.
