Broekhuizen Castle is a country house and estate on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is one of the pearls of the so-called Stichtse Lustwarande: a ribbon of country estates, villas and old farmsteads that stretches from De Bilt to Amerongen. Between 1840 and 1920 the area was particularly popular with wealthy Amsterdammers looking to escape the urban bustle. In its present form it dates from 1810. The castle was rebuilt as much as possible in the old style after a major fire in 1906. At the end of 2016, the estate was reopened as Parc Broekhuizen after another renovation, after which it was given a hospitality and hotel use. Restaurant Voltaire opened its doors in 2016, led by top chef Jacob Jan Boerma. In 2018, the restaurant was awarded one Michelin star. From 2013 to 2016, the TV program Heel Holland Bakt was recorded in the garden of this castle.
