Broekmolen in backlight on a slightly cloudy morning with the sun still low. The photo was taken from the path along the Broekwetering near the Dutch village of Streefkerk, municipality of Molenlanden in the centre of Alblasserwaard. The Broekmolen is reflected in the almost mirror-smooth water surface of the Broekwetering. The Broekmolen is a seesaw mill built in the year 1581. The mill pumped part of the Polder Streefkerk and Kortenbroek until 1951. Since then, this task has been taken over by pumping stations, but the mill is still millable. The (inhabited) mill, a national monument, has been owned by SIMAV since 2008 and restored in 2013.
