Bagger 258, a plant on wheels. Specially designed for mining lignite in Germany and other parts of Europe. The excavator had a striking digging arm, which was about 75 metres long and could dig up to 24 metres deep. Although the Bagger 258 was an impressive piece of engineering, it is now no longer in use. It was dismantled and scrapped after completing its task in the mining of the lignite mines. Today, Bagger 258 has become and unique part of the surroundings, and a gem for a photograph. This megamachine is now a rust bucket, slowly decaying. The excavator's bucket was one of the largest excavator buckets ever made and had a capacity of about 70 cubic metres.
