The Bugatti Veyron EB16.4 was the only current series model of the French carmaker and Volkswagen subsidiary Bugatti and has been succeeded by the Bugatti Chiron. The Veyron EB16.4 is one of the most expensive cars currently on the market and with a speed of 407.23 km/h was also the fastest from 2005 to 2007. On July 5, 2010, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, an even more powerful version of the Bugatti Veyron with a power of 1200 hp achieved a top speed of 431.072 km/h.
The Veyron is named after the racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Bugatti type 57.
