Venice's lagoon is home to many islands, Burano being perhaps the most colourful of them all.
The island is inhabited by a fishing community, who go out in the early hours of the day. Because of its location in the lagoon, the island is regularly blanketed in fog at sunrise. To be able to find their home again, everyone has painted their house a different colour.
I took this image at the end of the evening, during the blue hour. All the day tourists had already gone home and the streets were deserted. In this image, you can see one of these picturesque streets, with a moat running through it.
In this little street, the houses were painted in all the colours of the rainbow, blue, red, pink, green and yellow dominating!!!
By taking the image from a low vantage point, you get a nice depth effect.
I also have a vertical version of this image available!!!
