There is a quiet poetry hidden in this picture, a gentle reminder of transience and resilience. An old wooden fence, tanned by the weather and marked by life, leans patiently in the landscape. The ivy has lovingly embraced it - as if to soften its decay, preserve it, ensnare it like an old friendship that never quite fades away.
The colours are soft and restrained: the faded brown of the wood meets the lush green of the ivy. The two seem like opposites in a delicate dance between nature and man, life and decay.
A path opens up in the blurred background - barely visible, almost like a memory blurring in the mist. Perhaps a symbol of the path we all walk, ever onwards, without knowing where it ends.
This motif touches us with its quiet melancholy, but also with its hope: that even that which passes away lives on in the greenery. It is an invitation to see the beauty in small things - at the edge of the path, where often nobody looks.
To the series "By the wayside"
The eight pictures in the "By the wayside" series are like poetic notes in the midst of everyday life. They do not show the obvious, but the overlooked: a weathered fence, wild thistles, flowers in the midst of tarmac and gravel. They are not loud scenes - they tell in gentle tones of growth, decay and survival.
Each motif invites you to linger. You can see plants conquering their place, quiet rebellions against concrete and indifference. You recognise insects in their unwavering activity - like little heroes of endurance. And you can sense the silence, which is not empty, but full of stories.
The series is a visual walk with an open eye and an open heart. It reminds us that beauty does not announce itself - it is simply there. Right by the wayside.
