Strongly resembles the well-known "big cheeseweed" (Malva sylvestris), a common wild plant in gardens and roadsides.
Several species are applied as garden plants, e.g. big cheeseweed (Malva sylvestris) with several cultivars and dessert leaves (Malva verticillata). Others are considered weeds, especially in North and South America, where they do not occur naturally. They behave there as invasive species; that is, the plants become so successfully established that local biodiversity is threatened
