Callianthe picta is a beautiful South American ornamental shrub that is also becoming increasingly common in Central America. Bees and hummingbirds are particularly fond of its drooping orange-red flowers that resemble Chinese lanterns. If you make sure the callianthe picta is indoors before frost, it will continue to bear leaves all year round.
