Castle in the sea at sunset in Turkey by Ewold Kooistra

This aerial photograph shows an ancient castle on a small island off the coast of Turkey, completely surrounded by the open sea. Captured at sunset, the sky is coloured in warm shades of orange and pink, while the water slowly transitions from bright turquoise to deep blue. The castle stands isolated in the landscape and forms a powerful focal point in the vast sea.

From the drone's perspective, the symmetrical shape of the walls and towers is clearly visible. The rough stones contrast with the calm water, giving the image a timeless and serene appearance. The simplicity of the composition – sea, horizon and castle – creates tranquillity and balance, while the colour gradient in the sky adds extra depth.

This image exudes silence, space and history and invites you to pause for a moment. Thanks to the soft colours and clear lines, this photograph is particularly effective as wall decoration on aluminium dibond or plexiglass, where the transparency of the water and the warm evening air are rendered beautifully.
