Peru's Gocta waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in the world. Known to locals for centuries, this waterfall only became known to the general public in 2002, after a German expedition to the falls. The total height of the waterfall is more than 700 metres. The waterfall can be visited from Chachapoyas, a town in (little visited) northern Peru. From Gocta, the village after which the waterfall is named, it is a good 2.5-hour hike to the waterfall. On the way, we came across this little restaurant where you can have some drinks and food and enjoy the beautiful view for little money. At this point, we also came across a small, old-looking dog that followed us to the base of the waterfall.
