About "Censored truth - Between glances and barriers"

by Klaus Tesching

About the artwork

This work captivates the viewer with its stark contrast between precision and fragmentation. The face, elegant and flawless, is divided by hard, geometric lines - as if it were a puzzle whose pieces do not fit together completely. A single eye remains uncovered, penetrating and watchful, while the other is hidden behind a golden barrier.

The golden line that runs across the face acts like a symbolic censorship - it cuts through identity, restricts the view and prevents the whole truth from coming to light. But it is precisely what is not hidden that speaks all the louder: the perfectly arched eyebrows, the piercingly clear gaze and the blood-red lips are an expression of strength and presence.

The composition is dynamised by a sharp red area that breaks through the face like a splinter. Red as the colour of passion, anger or revolution - an element that brings unrest into the otherwise controlled structure.

"Censored Truth - Between Glances and Barriers" poses the question of what we are really allowed to see and which truths are withheld from us. It invites us to question our own perceptions: Is the border real or constructed? Is what is hidden more valuable than what is visible? A work that moves between silence and rebellion - and does not let go of the viewer.
